Costs & terms
Does BayTM charge my business anything for a placed ATM?
No. Under our free placement program there is no charge to your business for the machine, installation, cash loading, connectivity, maintenance or repairs, and no monthly fee. Your placement agreement spells this out in writing. For a buy-vs-free breakdown, see how much an ATM costs.
Do my customers pay a fee to withdraw cash?
Yes. Like most retail ATMs, the machine shows a convenience fee on screen before the customer confirms, and they can cancel at no charge. Their own bank may add a separate fee. That surcharge is what funds the machine, the cash and the service, so your business doesn’t pay for them.
Is there a minimum transaction volume?
No. We don’t require a minimum number of transactions to place or keep an ATM at your business, which makes BayTM a fit for seasonal and lower-traffic locations too.
How long is the agreement, and how does it end?
Term, renewal and removal are set out in plain language in your placement agreement, and we walk you through them before you sign. If a placement ends, BayTM arranges removal of its machine. Comparing with a lease? See ATM lease vs. free ATM placement.
How does an ATM help my business?
It gives customers who prefer cash — or need it for tips, cover charges or cash-only vendors — a way to get it without leaving. Some of that cash is likely to be spent with you, and people looking for a nearby ATM may find your business. Results vary by location; we’ll be honest about whether yours is a good fit. Does my business qualify for free ATM placement?
Most businesses with steady foot traffic, a few square feet of floor space and a standard outlet are a good fit. There is no minimum transaction volume. We confirm the fit during a free location review.
Installation
What do I need to provide?
A standard electrical outlet and a few square feet of floor space, ideally near the entrance. We confirm the exact footprint and clearance during the location review, and we supply the machine, connectivity, cash and service.
How long does installation take?
After the location review and agreement, installation is usually completed in a single visit. We’ll give you a specific date when we schedule it, and plan around your quieter hours.
Where in my business should the ATM go?
Usually near the entrance, visible from the register, out of the traffic lane and within camera coverage. We recommend the exact spot during the review. Our guide on where to put an ATM explains the thinking.
Can you replace an ATM I already have?
Often, yes. If your current machine is unreliable or frequently empty, tell us about your agreement and machine and we’ll walk you through the options for switching or adding a second ATM. See switching providers.
Do you provide ATMs for events?
Yes, for festivals, fairs, markets and private events. Terms depend on the dates, attendance and site, so tell us about your event and we’ll confirm what’s possible. See event ATMs.
How do I get an ATM machine for my business?
Request a location review, we recommend a spot, you review the placement agreement, and installation is usually a single visit. With free placement, BayTM supplies, loads and services the machine. If you would rather own one, we also sell ATMs.
Service & support
Who loads the ATM with cash?
We do, with our own cash. Placed machines are loaded by trained professionals on a schedule matched to your traffic, so your staff never handle the machine’s cash.
Who handles repairs, and how fast?
BayTM handles all maintenance and repairs on placed machines at no cost to you. Our support line is available 24/7; on-site arrival depends on your location and the time of day, and we’ll tell you what to expect for your area before you sign.
How do you know when the machine needs attention?
Our machines report cash levels and faults remotely, so we can often schedule a load or a repair before your staff notice a problem. If something looks wrong, you can call us any time.
A customer had a problem withdrawing cash. What should they do?
They should contact the bank that issued their card, which can trace and reverse a failed transaction. They can also tell us the machine’s location, date and time. Nobody should ever share a PIN or full card number. See ATM support.
Which areas do you serve?
We’re based in the Bay Area and serve San Francisco, the East Bay, the Peninsula, the South Bay and the North Bay, with placements in other California regions as well. Check your area.
